Are you guys really excited to refresh your childhood memory with one of your favorite game of that time? Yes I know you are excited.
Contra: Evolution is a same updated version of the 1988 Contra game with a drastic improvement in the graphics. At the first appearance, the game looked super good and it totally refreshed my old time memory. The game has been developed by Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. Contra: Evolution is a run and gun action game.
Let’s talk about the gameplay. There are 4 different playable characters out of which two of them are females. These two female contra soldiers have their own combat methods. The game has two different modes. One is arcade mode and the other is mission mode. In the mission mode, there is a tutorial with eight different stages to play on at different difficulty levels. Initially the stages are locked and are unlocked by reaching a particular level. You earn exp points after fighting in a stage that makes your level to push up. You also earn gold and diamonds after completing a fight. The golds and diamonds are used to purchase bullets and items and is also used to get more lives after you’ve died during playing. In the mission mode you earn golden eagles. In arcade mode you keep on playing through different locations till you’re out of lives. There are in-app purchases in the game to buy exp, golds and diamonds so the whole game is unlockable with the in-app purchases.
Even though the game is brilliant but the controls weren’t able to impress me. The movement of the player is done with the joystick that is placed on the bottom left of the screen. The main problem I encountered was that, I wasn’t able to shoot down at a particular angle standing still. Whenever I wanted to shoot at that particular angle, my player also starts moving. That looked quite irritating to me. Even though, there are three different game controls but they all are no-good. The controls are the only thing that is hampering the gameplay.
One more thing I found was the typo in the controls page. I was a little surprised by that but I think an update of the game will be rolling out very soon and the control problems as well as the typos will be out of the game.
The best in class which everyone should definitely try. Although a problematic game control can affect your interest in the game but still it’s a nice makeover from the original 1988 game.
