Yesterday we reported about torrent sites being blocked in the UK and as more and more ISP’s are blocking them over the weekend the next question is what is there to come from this and what exactly are people going to do now in the UK with the blocks in place.
Now i am not going to be going telling you how to “get round the blocks” as for number 1 i cannot simply do this as its a public website and i don’t really fancy a Abuse complaint from the government and second of all if you want something then do not pirate it, just buy it as you will feel a lot better. Now i know i have pirated stuff before and nearly everyone has even without knowing that they are doing it but still think about what your downloading.
With the torrent sites gone people will still find ways to get onto them but people might start moving to file sharing websites like MediaFire and all the others, now you won’t get the same download speeds but still people will do anything to get the files that they want and will happily wait for it to download at half the speed.
I have been watching Twitter after my ISP blocked the sites and it seems that people are not happy about it and people are posting ways to get around it and the internet is massive so they there is no way to block the sites fully but for now all that can be done is block the main way to get access to it.
We will see over the next coming months how all the internet censorship plays through but for now its in the early days so we will just have to wait.
Update: I am not promoting torrent websites in any shape or form, This article is simply to say what i think about what people are going to do and how people are reacting.
